How Shipping Costs Are Calculated

Understanding how we calculate shipping costs helps you make informed decisions.

Step 1Determine Package Weight

We calculate both actual weight and volumetric weight (length × width × height ÷ 5000), then use whichever is higher for shipping calculations.

Step 2Identify Delivery Zone

Your delivery address determines the zone (A, B, C, or D) which affects the base shipping rate.

Step 3Apply Delivery Method

Standard delivery uses base rates, express adds 50%, and same-day doubles the cost.

Step 4Add Any Additional Fees

Special handling, insurance, or remote area surcharges are added if applicable.

Example Calculation:

• 2kg package to Lagos (Zone A)

• Express delivery selected

• Base rate: ₦800 (1-5kg to Zone A)

• Express surcharge: ₦400 (50% of base rate)

• Total shipping cost: ₦1,200

Additional Fees & Surcharges

Some orders may incur additional fees depending on specific requirements.

Insurance Fee

₦200 - ₦2,000

Optional insurance for high-value items (electronics, jewelry). Cost is 1% of item value, minimum ₦200.

Remote Area Surcharge

₦500 - ₦1,500

Additional fee for deliveries to hard-to-reach locations or areas requiring special arrangements.

Special Handling

₦300 - ₦1,000

For fragile items, oversized packages, or items requiring special care during transport.

Fuel Surcharge

Variable

During periods of significant fuel price increases, a temporary surcharge may be applied (rarely used).
